What ski resort chef jobs actually involve
Alpine kitchens fall into three broad groups. Chalet and lodge kitchens serve a fixed number of guests with set menus, which suits chefs who want creative control and predictable covers. Hotel kitchens run breakfast, lunch and dinner services with a full brigade, giving clear progression from commis through chef de partie to sous chef. Mountain restaurants and après venues handle very high volume in short bursts, with almost all covers landing between 11am and 3pm.
Altitude changes the work. Cooking times shift, baking and pastry behave differently, and deliveries can be delayed by weather or road closures, so strong ordering and stock discipline matters more than it does at sea level.
