About the Position
๐ฝ Opportunity
Tandoori Aan Zee โ "Tandoori by the Sea" โ sits on the Zeeland coast pairing centuries-old Indian tandoor technique with fresh local ingredients pulled straight from the surrounding Dutch coastline. The restaurant is opening four Independent Chef-I roles at once, a build-out rather than a single backfill, for chefs who want to run tandoor cooking independently in a kitchen that leans on fire and spice rather than shortcuts.
๐จโ๐ณ Role & Responsibilities
Independently prepare lunch and dinner dishes from the Indian tandoor tradition
Carry out mise en place and other preparatory tasks โ cutting, mixing, portioning
Ensure the quality, taste and presentation of every dish
Apply and comply with HACCP and food safety regulations
Manage inventory: ordering, receiving and checking incoming stock
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces
Contribute ideas for recipes, menu updates and more efficient kitchen processes
Support and manage the kitchen assistants
๐ ChefJobs Abroad Analysis
Westkapelle is a small village on the Walcheren peninsula in Zeeland, built around one of the country's most striking pieces of coastal engineering โ a sea dike topped by a 15th-century church tower turned lighthouse, with a second lighthouse alongside it, both still standing guard over the North Sea. It's a quieter, more local alternative to nearby Domburg's beach-resort crowds, with Middelburg's historic centre and Vlissingen's ferry port both a short drive away. Four Independent Chef-I roles opening together points to a kitchen investing in tandoor cooking as its core craft, in a region where that specific technique isn't common โ a chance to build real fire-and-spice skill on a stretch of coast known for dunes and dikes rather than curry houses.

Best Fit
Chefs who want to build hands-on tandoor technique rather than general Indian-menu cooking
Cooks earlier in their independent career who'll make good use of internal training
Chefs drawn to a small, quiet coastal village over a major Dutch city
Those who like the idea of a kitchen expanding into four roles at once, rather than a single vacancy
Chefs comfortable running lunch and dinner service independently, with assistants to supervise
Not a fit for chefs who need city nightlife off-shift โ Westkapelle is dunes, dikes and beach, not Amsterdam
