About the Position
š½ Opportunity
Delaware North is hiring an Executive Chef to run culinary operations at Wuksachi Lodge, the stone-and-cedar flagship property inside Sequoia National Park, home to The Peaks Restaurant and its more casual pizza deck. You'd be leading the kitchen behind a menu built on California's seasonal bounty ā Sierra alpine dinners, fresh trout, and wine-list pairings ā served to guests looking out at giant sequoia forest and Sierra peaks from the dining room. It's a year-round position with relocation assistance and on-site manager housing, at a 102-room AAA three-diamond lodge that's the only real dining destination for miles in either direction.
šØāš³ Role
Hire, train, and lead kitchen and service teams across both The Peaks Restaurant and the pizza deck
Develop and maintain recipes, portion specs, and standard preparation procedures
Set purchasing specifications and manage budgetary allotments for all menu items
Prepare operational reports, flag trends, and recommend adjustments
Own food cost management, labor cost management, and inventory control
Maintain compliance with company and health department policies and regulations
Drive company vehicles across the property as needed
š ChefJobs Abroad Analysis
This is remote-park living in the fullest sense ā Wuksachi sits at elevation among the sequoias, with no central air in the buildings and a genuine sense of isolation from anything resembling a city, which is exactly the draw for the right person. What sets this apart from a typical resort kitchen is the built-in stability: it's year-round rather than seasonal, backed by a 100-year-old family-owned hospitality company with properties across national parks nationwide, so there's a real path to transfer or advance elsewhere in the portfolio if the mountains eventually call less. For a chef who wants ownership of a kitchen without sacrificing career infrastructure ā and who'd rather spend evenings under redwoods than in a city apartment ā this is a legitimate trade-up.
